Sqeeker’s Rants and Raves

It has been one of those crappy days that you just kind of wish you had never gotten out of bed for. I started my day off running late, Graeme puked all over me and him on our way out the door. Got the babies dropped off to daycare shortly after getting cleaned up, and then I was off to Lowe’s. I am trying to match some Formica to a door frame for the project we are doing at work. I picked up 3 samples for my boss to look at, because he didn’t like the one that had already been chosen. Ran back to the office to drop them off and get my reports ready before heading to my 1st (and last) appointment with a new shrink. I was then off again at 8:30 to go see the doc. When I scheduled the appointment last week I chose this particular shrink because she was supposedly one of the providers that my insurance paid 100% benefits for. When I arrived at her office I was informed that they were not one of the providers and my copay would be $125. I paid it since I would have been charged the entire $250 if I had left. I was supposed to have had an hour appointment beginning at 9am. She finally called me back at 9:30, talked to me a little while, informed me that indeed she agreed with my previous doctor’s diagnosis and that I am bipolar. No kidding, where did you get your degree from again?
She gave me some new meds to try, and then informed me to watch how I felt over the next few days since most people on this medication experience dramatic weight gain. If I start to feel overly hungry call her and she would change the medicine.
Ok, for starters who wants to take medicine that is almost guaranteed to make them fat? Secondly, I struggle with my weight anyway, and have just lost a crap load of weight. So again, why would I want to take this medicine? Oh yeah, it’s supposed to make me feel better. The catch is that she only gave me enough for 1 week and then wants me to come back in and shell out another $125, and this is supposed to make me feel better? The funny side of this is that when I have a manic episode, I spend money that I can’t afford to spend, and I can’t really afford to put out $125 a week for the docs sooooo…. do I blow the money at the docs or do I just keep going it alone and spend the money on cool stuff like the Wii Fit, clothes, make-up, shoes, and going out to eat?
Actually, I get to do both. I called the office that actually accepts my insurance and I have an appointment with them in a few weeks. Won’t cost me anything but the meds, so I still have money to blow on the cool stuff too.
Anyway, after this I went back to the office to over hear a conversation my boss is having with our superintendant telling him that once this project is complete we have no more work. Now this isn’t a surprise to me. I have known this for several weeks now. What bugs me is the fact that he has now had this talk with everyone in the office except me. Like I said, horrible day.

{July 27, 2008}   Yummy, yummy

We went to lunch today with some friends. We debated for a while about where to go, and finally decided on Moglies. OMG, the bruschetta was out of this world. I had pizza, which was fabulous. Geoff had a calzone which he said was great, and everyone else loved their food. A big thanks to Sarahfor mentioning this restaurant, it is definately somewhere I want to go again.

We followed lunch with a trip to Bruester’s for ice cream. I usually only get the cake batter flavor, but today wanted something a little different. I tried the New York Cheesecake, and I must say that I think I may have found a new love. Aegwyn was so cute, we got her one of the free kids cones with sprinkles and she was in heaven. We usually don’t let her have her own, but decided that since she was so good at lunch that she deserved to get a little messy and be a big girl. She did a very good job and didn’t make too much of a mess considering it was 95 degrees outside.

All in all it has been a pretty good day.

{July 26, 2008}   A much needed break

I decided yesterday afternoon that I needed a night out, no kids, no cooking, just fun. So we called my brother and made arrangements for my mom to babysit. We headed out to Bridgestreet for dinner and much needed fun and relaxation. We had decided beforehand to eat dinner at Biscuit’s & Blues. The first timeĀ  Geoff and I went there I was not impressed, but I always try to give places a couple of chances because I know any establishment can have a bad night.

We were expecting music to be playing outside on the patio, since it is advertised that they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. There was none last night. Geoff and I decided to split our orders and share our food, he ordered the fried shrimp and I had the crab cakes, and we shared an order of fried green tomatoes. After about a 45 minute wait our food finally was ready. They left out Geoff’s cole slaw, and my sis-in-laws biscuits, so there was another 15 minute wait for those to be brought out to us. The crab cakes were the most mediocre that I have ever had. I don’t think I have ever seen crab cakes so thin, and the flavor was just not there. The shrimp was a little greasy. The fries had no salt. The fried green tomatoes however were pretty good, other than being soggy and a little greasy. My brother loved his po-boy, and my sis-in-law said her grilled salmon was just so-so.

Then the fun began, it started raining about the time we finished eating. We headed over to Barnes & Noble for coffee and to get out of the rain, but by the time we walked all the way there we were soaked, and the store was freezing.

All in all though we had a good time, I slept much better last night than I have in weeks, and I feel much better today. Maybe I can make it another week without going postal on someone at the office.

{July 24, 2008}   Awesome show

We are back from seeing the Wiggles, and it was great. Aegwyn had the best time and danced and sang through the entire show. When they drove out in the Big Red Car to open the show her jaw dropped and she pointed and squealed. Aegwyn kept a check on Noah the whole time too. She watched to make sure we were all clapping and doing the dances, and if she Noah just sitting there she would poke him and grab his hands to make him clap. She was so tired by the end of the show, but she kept on singing and dancing and laughing.

They did an excellent job entertaining the kids and the parents. I can’t wait until Graeme is old enough to go also. This is definately a show we will go to again, and I highly recommend it for anyone who has kids.

{July 24, 2008}   We’re off to see…

the Wizard? No, The Wiggles!!!! Is it really sad that I am excited about seeing The Wiggles? I won tickets on the radio a few weeks ago and we are taking Aegwyn and Noah tonight. Noah says he doesn’t like them any more since he is 8. However, he watches them on TV with Aegwyn and Graeme every chance he gets, hmmmmm.

Anyway, it should be a lot of fun watching Aegwyn. She has gotten where she dances all the time at home now, and she tries to sing along with the songs on TV. I just hope that she isn’t too tired from being at daycare today.

{July 23, 2008}   Blue skies ahead

Things are looking up. My interview went great, the woman at the agency said that I am the most qualified candidate for the job. Now it’s just a personality thing. Hopefully, my sunny disposition this morning will get me to a second interview, and hopefully I won’t blow that one.

I also received a call this morning and have an interview with a different company tomorrow afternoon. Wish me luck.

{July 23, 2008}   Idiots, idiots everywhere

My internet at home has been out since yesterday. I originally thought it was just from the weather, but it is still out this morning. So I called the wonderfully brilliant people at Comcast to find out what was going on. The guy on the phone could barely pronounce his own name, then proceeds to tell me, “I have your account pulled up now, and you don’t have any connectivity at your house.” Well, no kidding. What kind of brain surgeon does it take to figure out that I wouldn’t be calling complaining of no service if I had service. And, whoever the genius was that set up their recorded messages needs some kind of award. I dialed the option for no service, and on the message it actually said that I could request help by email!!! Ok, now if I am calling because I have no service, how in the world am I supposed to request help via email? Anyway, they are sending someone out today to take a look at what the problem might be, we have a window of between 2pm and 7pm that we have to be at home waiting on them to show up.

In other news, work still sucks. I threw a major hissy fit on Monday with my boss about the way the guys act when they come in the office. We had someone from corporate coming in so I cleaned up the office, and had everything looking pretty good considering we are on a muddy construction site. Then at lunch the guys came in to eat, started eating their lunch and decided they would rather go out to eat. Did they clean up their trash and stuff? NO!!! They just got up and left, leaving dirty forks, empty drink bottles and food on the table. I informed my boss that I wasn’t their momma or their maid and unless they wanted to start paying for maid service and leaving a tip for cleaning up their crap they needed to have more respect for me and this office and clean up their own stuff. Needless to say that none of them are speaking to me now (jumping up and down for not having to listen to Dumb and Dumber bad mouthing every person on the face of the planet). Hopefully things are looking up though, I have a job interview today at 11:00. The position is for an Executive Assistant, pays more than I am making now, and the big bonus is that it is not located on a construction site.

{July 20, 2008}   It’s showtime

It is official, I am too old to go to the late movie. We went to see The Dark Knight last at the 9:40 showing. We bought our tickets online early since everything Geoff had been reading said that every showing was selling out. We got there and there was a huge line outside, and everything was sold out so it is a good thing we got our tickets. We go in, and there was line waiting to get into out specific theater. I have never had to wait in line like this before to see a movie. Anyway, the movie was great. Heath Ledger was an amazing actor, and his portrayal of the Joker was amazing. It is so sad when talent that great is lost at such an early age.

By the time the movie was over I could barely keep my eyes open. It was 1:00am when we got home, 1:30 when we finally fell into bed and I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. Geoff’s mom got up with Graeme when he tried to wake up at 5:30 this morning and I actually got to sleep until almost 10:00.

It is a sad realization when you have trouble staying awake through an awesome movie just because it is midnight.
